Operation Theory -

Hardware — The SYN101 consists of two Euvis DS875 high-speed Direct Digital Synthesizers, a Spartan 3AN Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA), and an enhanced 8051 microcontroller (Cypress CY7C68013A) with external RAM and EEPROM. The key front-end component DS875 features >2.8GHz clock rate, 30-bit frequency word and 11-bit phase word resolutions. The FPGA performs the commands from the microprocessor to output the desired linear chirping waveform. The microcontroller has an integrated USB 2.0 transceiver, a series interface engine (SIE) and an enhanced 8051 microprocessor, which provides a user friendly interface for the host PC or existing systems.

Software — The Windows-XP SYN101 GUI is the most convenient way to control and operate the module. The simple format and straight-forward input fields allow users to readily implement the module.
