Operation Theory
Hardware — The DSM202 consists of a Euvis DS856 high-speed DDS, a Spartan 3AN Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA), and an enhanced 8051 microcontroller (Cypress CY7C68013A) with external RAM and EEPROM. The key front-end component DS872 features >3GHz clock rate, 11-bit amplitude and 13-bit phase resolutions. It takes 32 single-ended frequency word data as inputs. The differential analog outputs are 50 ohm terminated. The FPGA performs the commands from the microprocessor to output the desired linear chirping waveform. The microcontroller has an integrated USB 2.0 transceiver, a series interface engine (SIE) and an enhanced 8051 microprocessor, which provides a user friendly interface for the host PC or existing systems and general-purpose controls.
Software — The Windows-XP DSM202 GUI is the easiest and most convenient way to control and operate the module. The simple format and straight-forward input fields allow users to immediately perform their desired linear chirping waveforms.
